An Open Letter from
the Massage Club
There are a few
common traits that separate the successful and the enjoyable
online communities from the impersonal and annoying ones. The
purpose, values and vision of the Massage Club include:
- Drawing lots of people, lots of
traffic, lots of fresh new faces, and lots of
opportunities for touch with different people, all in a
humane, non-commercial environment,
- Keeping things simple,
down-to-earth, honest and very real,
- Providing a free alternative to the
impersonal, big-media trade sites,
- Being inclusive, not turning anyone
away, welcoming all, celebrating our differences and
acknowledging our similar spirits, and most of all
- No charges, no fees, no spam, no
advertisements, not even a banner ad.
This brings me
to a rather delicate subject. These are some rather ambitious
goals considering the cost associated with promoting and
maintaining an online community. If you have the
resources and you feel it is appropriate, would you be willing to
underwrite our cause with a little financial help? We
would be grateful. Keep in mind - there is no obligation.
To those of you who are already
contributors thanks! What we are doing here would not be
possible without your support.
OK how did we come up
with this amount? Most membership sites charge everyone a monthly
fee. We did a survey of other sites. For example YogaMates
charges $11.00 per month. MassageClub.org has more to offer than
most of these sites. So that in mind, what would be fair? How
about a voluntary $9 per month from only those people who are
willing and able?
